The process of creating a basket weave illusion vessel is a time consuming one.  The base vessels are created 2 different ways.  The first is to use a bland turning blank to start with.  The other way is to make a segmented vessel out of an inexpensive hard wood.  Once I have the base vessel created the next step is to form the horizontal beads.  Followed by using a pyography pen to mark off all the divisions of each bead.  The final step is to create a pattern design and color the beads in with archival India ink.  This process could take from several hours to 6+ hours depending on the size and how many beads are required to achieve the pattern.  Below is an ongoing archive of some basket weave illusions that I have created.

This basket weave illusion stands 8 1/2 inches tall and is 6 inches in diameter at the widest point.  It has 8,200 beads.  The colors are black and sanguine.
