My fascination with wood began the very first time I walked into my high-school woodshop. The smell of fresh-cut lumber, the hum of machinery, and the endless possibilities immediately pulled me in. After graduating, I kept that passion alive with a well-loved, hand-me-down radial arm saw from the ’70s, a few handheld power tools, and an assortment of trusty hand tools.
Everything changed in 2011 when I bought my first lathe. From that moment on, my shop floor was buried in wood chips as I taught myself how to turn them into something useful. Once I completed that first successful piece, I was hooked. Since then, I’ve been dedicated to refining my craft. Being part of the Atlantic Shore Woodturners and the American Association of Woodturners has deepened my knowledge and given me the chance to share what I’ve learned with fellow enthusiasts.
These days, I specialize in twice-turned green-wood vessels inspired by Southwestern pottery forms. Between batches of green wood, I enjoy creating a wide range of pieces—from functional work to artistic explorations—along with carving and coloring techniques that add extra depth and character to my creations. These pieces fill my displays at local handmade shops and art shows. I’m always experimenting, always learning, and always chasing the next idea.
