Learn how to create a hollow form without the use of specialized hollowing tools. I only use basic spindle turning tools and bowl gouges. I will show you my techniques for creating a hollow form in two halves. Then how to put them back together and hide the seam.
High Rise boxes
Learn how to make a grain matched box that sits on thin pedestal with a finial on top. I use spindle turning tools, bowl gouges and a small goose neck hollower for this demo.
Daylily bud vase
Learn how to create a completely hollowed bud vase with a carved flower on top. In this demo I show you how I hollow vessels with narrow necks from the bottom using spindle gouges, bowl gouges and a goose neck hollower. After the piece is turned I demonstrate how I layout a daylily flower and carve it. I also show how I use an airbrush to blend in colors on the tops of the petals.
Grain matched box
This demonstration is an intro to box turning. I will teach you all the steps needed to make a box with a grain matched lid. I use spindle gouges, small bowl gouges and scrapers for this demo.
